What is Trauma-Informed Somatic Therapy?

Somatic therapy is a body-based approach to healing

An approach that recognises trauma, stress and survival responses live not only in the mind, but in the nervous system and the body. Trauma-Informed Somatic Therapy helps you notice what is happening in your body right now, build capacity for safety, presence and regulation, gently work with patterns of freeze, shutdown or overwhelm to reconnect with sensation, emotion and inner signals. A trauma-informed approach means nothing is forced, pacing is central, consent and choice guide the work and your body leads. Together, we work with what is here, without spiritual bypassing.

Who this work is for

Many of the women I work with are deeply self-aware, yet feel something essential is missing. This work is about restoring that missing sense of connection from the inside out. You may understand your patterns, you may have insight, you may even know why you feel the way you do. And still, your body remains tense, numb, frozen or exhausted. Trauma-informed somatic therapy offers a different way - one that works with the nervous system, not against it. This is slow, body-based, relational work for women who are ready to come home to themselves.

What we work with together

Trauma-Informed Somatic Therapist

Each 1:1 somatic therapy session is responsive to you and your nervous system, but may include: tracking sensation and felt sense, gentle somatic awareness and grounding practices, working with breath, movement or stillness, exploring freeze, shutdown and survival responses, resourcing safety, choice and self-trust, and integrating emotional experience without overwhelm. There is no expectation to talk about everything and there is no need to relive the past. We move at the speed your body allows.

clients often experience increased capacity to feel without becoming overwhelmed, a softening of chronic tension, numbness or shutdown, greater emotional range and presence, improved nervous system regulation, clearer boundaries and inner signals and a deeper sense of safety and self-trust. These shifts are often subtle at first but deeply meaningful. This work supports long-term change rather than quick fixes.
